A slow Sunday ritual in four steps

Twenty unhurried minutes that do more for your skin than a ten-step routine squeezed in on the run.

Our most-asked question at the front desk is not about a product. It is: what should I actually do at home? Here is the ritual Mara recommends to nearly everyone.

1. Warm cleanse

Massage a cleansing balm over dry skin for a full minute, then remove with a warm, damp cloth. Slow is the point.

2. A gentle mask

Choose something soothing rather than stripping — a clay mask diluted with a few drops of oil, or a cream mask left on while you make tea.

3. Five minutes of massage

With a few drops of facial oil, sweep from the centre of the face outward and down the neck. It drains puffiness and, frankly, it feels wonderful.

4. Seal and sleep

Finish with your usual moisturiser and go to bed early. The ritual matters less than the rest it invites.
